If you are here, you must believe in the power of spirituality or at least be curious about it. If you feel like you’re in a rut and have tried everything to get out of it, spirituality is your way out. It can help you be more hopeful and have a positive outlook on life. It can also help you become an active part of a community.
Spiritual awakening is a crucial part of the spiritual process. Keep reading to find out what you can do to start it.
What Is Spiritual Awakening?
Call it “nirvana,” “bliss,” or “enlightenment,” the concept of spiritual awakening has existed for centuries across various cultures. Spiritual awakening happens when a person can look at their life from a distance and look at things differently.
They can be unnerving because they often cause existential questions like “Who am I, and why am I here?”. However, once you sit with the emotions, there can be exciting as we find out what makes us feel alive.
A spiritual awakening affects your body, heart, mind, and soul and forces you to see your limitations of the world. When you are spiritually awake, your innermost self will ask you: “Now that we are aware, will we do something about the negativity, pain, and illusions within and around us, or will we ignore it?”
There are stages you should observe to kick start the process.

What Signs To Look For?
Spiritual awakening is the first step to gaining enlightenment. While it can happen in a moment, the process has several stages.
1. The Spiritual Awakening
When you begin your spiritual journey, you question everything you know. You start to understand what you need in your life and clear out old habits, relationships, and belief systems from your life. You also start being more open to new things. In this phase, you might feel lost and confused or even feel like something’s missing.
2. The Dark Night Of The Soul
The second step/stage looks and sounds like a rough patch and feels very low. It can be very challenging when you have a new outlook on life and are trying to understand what it looks like. But a good thing to remember when you hit rock bottom is that there’s no way to go but up, forcing you to create impactful change.
3. The Sponge.
Once you’ve made it past rock bottom, you are ready to start your new and improved life. In this stage, it’s about exploring and trying new things. You try different hobbies, relationships, religious practices, and other ways of life that suit your new outlook.
4. The Satoru Self
Satori is a Japanese Buddhist term for “awakening” or comprehension. It is derived from the verb form Satoru. It is the act of “seeing into one’s true nature” and starting to recognize, honor, and embody your true self and use your gifts, skills, and talents.
5. The Soul Sessions
If you think you’re enlightened, there’s still a while to go. The fifth stage can be slightly time-consuming as you’re restructuring your life where you can spiritually thrive. It can take time to find the strategies that work for you. In this time, you are healing and growing as you figure out your routine.
6. The Surrender
The penultimate step is surrendering. It is about discarding any beliefs, structures, and ego parts that keep you from speaking your truth. You know your soul by now and have a lifestyle that works for you. However, there might be aspects of your old life that still latch on to you. In this step, release them and step into your power.
7. Awareness And Service
The last stage is awareness and service. In this stage, you are graceful, clear, and aware of your divinity every minute. You wish to serve others, and it brings you a lot of happiness. You are content with life.
The Bottom Line
Spiritual awakenings are about tending to your inner child and tend to be complicated, profound, and life-changing in the best possible way. While it is not an easy task, it will improve the quality of your life. Be patient, use trial and error and trust the process. After all, every story has a happy ending! If it’s not happy, it’s not the end.
